Introduction to the Grant Process

We are pleased to announce the opening of our 2012-2013 Grants Cycle, which marks the entrance into our fifth full year of operation.

As noted as part of the Spring 2011 Grants cycle, grant applications will be accepted ONLY in electronic format. Grant applicants are asked to submit their requests to ufref@yahoo.com, with all appropriate attachments and signatures, no later than TBD. Guidelines for Submitting a Grant Application accompanies this Introduction and includes instructions on completing the Grant Application and the Grant Application form itself. Announcements of grant awards will be made on May 1, 2012, which allow Grant Recipients to immediately implement their ideas with the opening of the new 2012-2013 school year. In soliciting grant proposals, UFREF looks for those applications that propose novel programs which are aligned best with our mission and values and have the potential to positively impact students. Staff and affiliated groups from all Upper Freehold schools, grade levels, and curriculum areas are encouraged to apply.

UFREF has awarded in excess of $145,000 in the past five years (which includes approximately $79,000 in targeted donations received in connection with the Robotics Club and “Bridging the Gap” initiative), which has served to benefit the students of Upper Freehold Regional (UFR) School District – and has been a result of faculty, staff, and parents alike continually striving to find innovative and creative ways to enhance their educational experience. Funds for the 2012-2013 grants cycle have been or will be raised from great events such as our annual Sno-Ball Softball Tournament, annual Community Twilight Challenge and Kid’s Fun Run, STARs recognition program and the generosity of UFREF supporters via individual and corporate contributions.

Facts about the 2012-2013 grant cycle:

  • Proposals not funded in one cycle may be resubmitted for consideration during a later cycle
  • All staff, administrators, and groups affiliated with the district (e.g., Nurse, Guidance, PTA, RISE, student groups, etc.) are eligible to apply
  • An entire grade level or department may apply for a grant
